Home to one of Oregon’s highly rated school districts, Tigard and Tualatin are located just south of Portland in southeastern Washington County. The school district and its residents share a strong commitment to community involvement.
There are many great neighborhoods in Tigard, like Bull Mountain which has an elevation as high as 700 feet, allowing some homes to have stunning views of nearby mountain ranges, like Hood, Adams, St. Helens, Jefferson, and Rainier. While some homes in this area were built in the 1970s, there are new single-family homes, townhomes and condominiums being built today with easy access to major roadways and amenities.
Tualatin is more consciously green with its commitment to planting trees, a preference for single-family homes and an abundance of parks. Victoria Woods is one of its preeminent neighborhoods with beautiful luxury homes sited near schools and a short drive to the major freeways. It is also walking distance to Ibach Park, an outstanding facility with basketball courts, baseball fields, tennis courts, playgrounds, and an impressive trail system.
Tigard and Tualatin are both mid-size cities but are also home to the area’s finest shopping destinations. Washington Square, located in Tigard, is one of the top grossing malls per square foot in the US and is anchored by major retailers like Nordstrom, Macy’s, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Apple. More than 170 specialty stores and a vast array of dining options is reason enough to visit. And a few miles south, in Tualatin, is Bridgeport Village, a newer outdoor mall with more than 500,000 square feet of internationally known stores and boutiques, more than a dozen dining options, and the largest IMAX theatre in the state.
Like other cities, there is ample green space, parks and trails in Tigard and Tualatin. Mass transit is also available for those neighborhoods along major thoroughfares and the historic, downtown regions are very walkable. And due to both city’s proximity to Interstate 5 and Highway 99, commuting north to Portland and south to Salem is very reasonable should you need to work in the office.
